Requests For reference letters
The procedures associated with Letters of Reference are full of bias and barriers for students. Every student deserves a letter from their professor.
And... with 2,000 students per year, it is impossible for me to write them all. It takes a lot of time to read your documents and then talk with you about your goals etc... and I simply don't have the time in the days to do this. It pains me!
So here is what I've been doing: I've been asking students to write their own draft reference letter, one that they would be comfortable with me signing... send it to me along with the details of where and by when it needs to go. Please make sure that this isn't a really 'last minute' thing.
To facilitate the process, I've made a qualtrics survey that you are welcome to fill out. https://uoguelph.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_40o9coC8YRx0bmm
If you choose to use the survey link, please let me know that you've submitted a survey by sending me a copy of the relevant documents (e.g. CV, resume, transcripts, and links to the opportunity that you applying to).
I'll put a revised draft of your letter on letterhead and send it out.
